Welcome to my Blog!
My name is Henry Herrera, I am a geological engineer (Universidad de Oriente - Venezuela), and I've got a masters in geology (University of Houston) and a graduate certificate in reservoir enginnering (Universidad de Buenos Aires - Argentina).

I wanted to make this blog to combine two of my greater passions: petrophysics and web development.
In this blog, I have made a compilement of diverse equations of different authors for the calculation of some rock physical and petrophysical properties.
This blog is kind of a calculator for petrophysical ecuations of porosity, saturation, resisitivity, shale volume, and estimation of hydrocarbons reserves .
You just need to introduce the values of the different variables and click on calculate and you will get the result.
I hope you all find this blog very useful.
You can search any equation more easily now by using an equations list, which is filtered by equation name, without needing the navigation bar, just by clicking this following link:
This is how the filter works on the equations list:
Important announcement: I have made a major update to the website in order to make it more functional, adding validations to all equations, for instance, not allowing negative values as inputs (with some exceptions to that rule), results that are negative or that exceed a 100%, using decimal numbers when required, among other things. I believe these changes give the application a more professional look and a better use than just an equations calculator. You can leave your comments if you find any error in any of the equations, through the comments section or the contact forms. I hope this update improves the user experience of this website.
IMPORTANT: I AM NOT THE AUTHOR OF ANY OF THE EQUATIONS USED ON THIS BLOG. ALL THE EQUATIONS WERE COMPILED FROM THE LITERATURE (E.G. ASQUITH & KRYGOWSKI, 2004), AND FROM MY WELL LOG INTERPRETATION AND PETROLEUM GEOLOGY CLASS NOTES DURING MY UNDERGRAD AND GRADUATE STUDIES, AND MY PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE. FOR MORE INFORMATION RELATED TO THE EQUATIONS, PLEASE CHECK THE LITERATURE, AND THE REFERENCES NAMED ON THIS BLOG.
